How I Make Sure I Never Run Out of Video Ideas

I use a few methods to make sure I never run out of ideas for my YouTube videos. Steal them for yourself to come up with fitness and workout videos for your channel.

Do Research

Do some quick YouTube and Google searches (“workout videos,” “fitness journey,” “workout challenges,” “fitness videos”) to see what’s currently trending in the fitness industry.

Look on other creators’ channels to see what topics and YouTube video types (challenges, how-tos, etc.) get a lot of clicks and engagement.

Resist the temptation to directly copy the other content you see—you need to be authentic if you want to grow a loyal audience.

Instead, use what you see as inspiration and ask yourself how to adapt it to your YouTube channel.

Solve Your Target Audience’s Pain Points

Learning to identify and solve your audience’s pain points is a must if you want to produce valuable content.

You can do this by asking your target audience about their biggest fitness struggles and goals and by simply talking with people in your daily life. Ask them what workout routines they like and how they feel about their fitness journey.

Another great way to come up with pain points is to do a little reflection.

What did you struggle with when you were starting your fitness journey?

What were some big questions you had or insecurities that held you back?

What helped you develop and follow healthy workout routines?

Put your experience and expertise to good use and create video content based on your personal pain points and how you solved them.

Turn Standalone Videos Into Series

Think back to a workout video you posted or a video dispelling common fitness myths. Don’t leave them at just one video—make a series.

A great way to do this is to first check which video content is performing well and then see if you can take that topic and turn it into a series.

There’s no sense in creating a series of YouTube videos that no one is interested in, so take the time to do some research.

How Can I Get Feedback From My Audience To Learn What Fitness Videos They Prefer?

Comments are a great way to get feedback from your audience.

During your videos, ask your viewers direct questions and encourage them to share their answers (or any other thoughts they might have) in the comments section.

You can then create videos based on your audience’s input. Here are some other ways to gather feedback for your YouTube channel:

  • Check out your analytics to gather information about your audience’s viewing habits, demographics, and engagement metrics
  • Use YouTube’s community tab
  • Post and engage with your audience on other social media platforms
  • Conduct polls and questionnaires
  • Do live stream sessions where you can interact with your audience in real-time

My short answer? Both.

Evergreen content provides long-term value to viewers and can generate consistent views over time while trending content can grab the immediate attention of your audience (and attract new viewers).

Having a mix makes your channel relevant and valuable for the long term and helps you grow your audience and, thus, your YouTube channel.

For your fitness channel, evergreen video ideas could look like:

  • 8 Essential Morning Stretches
  • A Beginner’s Guide to HIIT
  • Healthy Smoothies for Muscle Recovery

And trending videos could look like this:

  • Fitness Challenge: TikTok Edition
  • Testing Popular Fitness Gadgets: What’s New in 2024
  • Celebrity Workout Secrets: Training Like (That Famous Person from That Currently Famous Thing).

Time To Exercise All Those New Ideas

Hopefully, some of these ideas have you feeling all fired up and ready to go with your new content ideas.

Now, it’s time for the fun part. Plan, shoot, and edit your videos so you can start streaming new content to your audience today.
