How to Fix “At this time your account is not eligible to use this feature” on Instagram Live

Instagram Live is a tool for maintaining direct connections and fostering authenticity.

You can offer real-time interaction to your followers through comments and questions.

During a live broadcast, you can create Q&A segments to increase interaction.

You can also invite guests to join your live broadcast (they must be following you).

However, some users reported that they are unable to go live on Instagram.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix “At this time your account is not eligible to use this feature. Try again later!” on Instagram Live.

Why am I not eligible to go live on Instagram?

You are not eligible to go live on Instagram because you’ve previously posted something that violated the Community Guidelines.

In addition, if your account has been disabled, live broadcasts will not be available for you.

You can check your account status by navigating to your Profile > Menu > Account Status.

On the page, you can check if Instagram has taken any actions to your account.

If there are all green ticks next to all categories, it means that your account is fine.

However, if there is an orange or red warning on a category (e.g. Removed content), you won’t be able to go live until it’s lifted.

To fix “At this time your account is not eligible to use this feature” on Instagram Live, you need to check your account status.

If you’ve recently violated the Community Guidelines, you won’t be able to go live until the violation is lifted.

Here’s how to check your account status and submit an appeal:

  1. Open the Instagram app, go to your profile, and tap on the menu icon.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Account Status”.
  3. If there is an orange or red warning, tap on the category (e.g. Removed content) for more information.
  4. If you don’t think you’ve violated the Community Guidelines, tap on “Request a review” followed by “Submit a request”.
  5. You can also submit an appeal to the Oversight Board: https://www.oversightboard.com/.
  6. Otherwise, wait up to 180 days for violations/feature restrictions to be lifted.

Note: As of early 2024, many users reported that their accounts are not eligible to go live on Instagram even though they did not violate any Community Guidelines.

This is a known bug on Instagram that Meta has not fixed—check the App Store/Google Play Store and keep Instagram updated to the latest version.
