In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix your gamepad/PS4/PS5/Xbox controller not working, detecting, or switching in EA Sports FC 25.
Fix 1: Disable Steam Input
- Open Steam and log in to your account.
- Go to your library and right-click “EA Sports FC 25”.
- Select Properties > Controller > Override for “EA Sports FC 25”.
- Select “Disable Steam Input” and launch the game.
Note: If disabling Steam Input does not fix your controller, try enabling it instead.
Fix 2: Launch the game in Big Picture Mode
- Launch Steam.
- Click on the monitor icon on the top right to enter Big Picture Mode.
- Select “Menu” on the bottom left and select “Library”.
- Select “EA Sports FC 25” and “Play” to launch the game.
Fix 3: Launch Steam and the game as an administrator
- Right-click Steam > properties > Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator > tick > Apply > OK.
- Go to your Steam library > Right-click “EA Sports FC 25” > Properties > Installed Files > Browse > Right-click “EA Sports FC 25” application > properties > Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator > tick > Apply > OK.
- Launch the game.
Fix 4: Unplug external devices
- Unplug and replug your controller if it’s wired (it can be simply a loose plug).
- Unplug external unused USB devices (Logitech racing wheel, Thrustmaster racing wheel, additional controllers, etc.).
Fix 5: Add EA to Steam (EA Sports FC 25-specific)
- Go to your Steam library and select “Add a Game” on the bottom left.
- Select “Add a Non-Steam Game” and select “Browse”.
- Add the EADesktop app (e.g. C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop app).
- Select “Add Selected Programs” and go to your Steam library.
- Right-click EADesktop and select “Properties”.
- Select “Controller” and select “Disable Steam Input”.
- Launch EA Desktop and launch the game.
