How to Fix “Due to multiple community guideline violations” on TikTok

Are you getting a “Due to multiple community guideline violations” error on TikTok?

The second part of the error indicates the action you are banned from using.

For example, you can be temporarily blocked from sending messages, posting, commenting, or updating your profile.

In some cases, you’ll see an expiration date (e.g. blocked from posting until YYYY-DD-MM).

In other cases, there won’t be an expiration date—so you won’t know when the ban expires.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix “Due to multiple community guideline violations” on TikTok (e.g., messages, posting, commenting).

How to Fix “Due to multiple community guideline violations” on TikTok

To fix “Due to multiple community guideline violations” on TikTok, you can try filing an appeal on the TikTok app or using the feedback form.

Otherwise, you need to wait for the block to expire (typically 90 days) before you can use the action(s) again.

Fix 1: File an appeal

  1. Open TikTok and tap on “Inbox”.
  2. Open “System notifications”.
  3. Find the community guideline violation notification and open it.
  4. If there is an “Appeal” option, select it.
  5. Submit the appeal and wait for TikTok’s response.

Fix 2: Contact TikTok using feedback form

  1. Go to https://www.tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback.
  2. Select “General account inquiry” as the topic.
  3. Select “Other” as the category.
  4. Enter your email address and TikTok username.
  5. Describe that you’ve been blocked by mistake (e.g. blocked from direct messaging) and didn’t violate any community guidelines.
  6. Submit a screenshot of the error message.
  7. Submit the report and wait for TikTok’s response.

Fix 3: Wait for the block to expire

  1. If you’re temporarily blocked from posting, commenting, direct messaging, etc., the error message might contain an expiration date.
  2. To check, navigate to your Profile > Menu > Settings and privacy > Support > Safety Center > Account status.
  3. Here’s an example of the error message “You’re temporarily blocked from direct messaging until 2023-01-15 10:46:14”.
  4. This means that you’re temporarily blocked from direct messaging until the 15th of January.
  5. After the 15th of January, you’ll be able to send direct messages again.

Fix 4: Wait for 90 days

  1. If you’ve received an error message without an expiration date (e.g. You’re temporarily blocked from posting), it means that you need to wait for 90 days (3 months).
  2. After 90 days, you’ll be able to post, comment, direct message, etc., again.
  3. In addition, your account will no longer be taken into consideration for a permanent ban.
