Microsoft released its last version of the Office app suite, MS Office 2021, on October 5, 2021. Now, the company is planning to release the next version of its popular office app suite, Office 2024, next year.
Microsoft’s Windows Office 2024 Is Coming Next Year
According to a report by XDA Developers, the Redmond giant will offer a perpetual license version of Office 2024 next year, which individuals and businesses can purchase by paying a one-time fee to get permanent access to Microsoft 365 apps for one computer.
In other words, users need not have to pay a monthly or annual subscription to Microsoft 365 to use the Office app suite. This option is particularly useful for those who do not need all the features and cloud services that Microsoft 365 offers and want to only use the Office app suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) on their PC or Mac.
Currently, Microsoft is internally testing Office 2024 and should release it in the third or fourth quarter of 2024 for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
As per XDA Developers, Office 2024 is available on Microsoft’s DevMain testing branch, which is designed for the company’s employees to test upcoming software products before it is made available to customers. This internal build of Office 2024 doesn’t have significant changes compared to the latest Office 2021.
Anyone interested in testing a preview version of Office 2024 right away can follow the method published on XDA Developers’ website. However, this process is challenging and requires some technical expertise and a virtual machine or secondary PC. Hence, we would not recommend you opt for this method unless you are absolutely sure, as you may even lose your Microsoft Office license if you have one.
