Meta-owned Instagram, the popular photo sharing service, is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create a backdated post on the platform.

Instagram Tests ‘Post To The Past’ Feature For Backdated Posts

The new feature called “Post to the past” was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Alessandro Paluzzi, a leaker and reverse engineer who gives reliable tips related to developments on Instagram.

This unreleased feature, which appears in the list of Instagram sharing choices, is expected to offer users the ability to create and schedule a post for a date in the past, similar to scheduling a regular post, along with a specific time and day from the user’s calendar. However, it is not known if Instagram will notify followers when a post has been backdated.

Once rolled out, the “Post to the Past” feature will be available at the final step of creating a new post and located within the share menu, just above the ‘Boost post’ option that is used for increased engagement.

Currently, this feature is in the beta stage, and there is no information on whether it will be only limited to business accounts or if the feature will be available to the general public. Stay tuned for more updates!
