WABetaInfo, a known WhatsApp tipster publication, discovered the new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12 update, which is available from the Google Play Store.

The new group chat events feature is currently in testing in beta and is available to a limited set of WhatsApp Beta users. This feature allows users to easily schedule an event with the necessary information, such as event name, date, time, agenda, and location, and share it directly with all the group members in the WhatsApp chat.

Those who download the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12 update can view a new action within the chat share menu, including an “events shortcut.”

To schedule an Event within a group chat, simply tap on the attachment icon (paper clip) within the message field. This will open several attachment options, such as Document, Camera, Gallery, Audio, Location, Contact, and Poll, with a new Event option showing at the bottom of the list.

Tapping the new Event option opens up a full-page card that allows users to add a name for the event, date, and location. It also provides an option to add a video call.

“With this feature, users can create events with a specific name and choose when they want to be notified in the conversation. This can be especially useful for planning and coordinating various activities within group chats or simply staying organized with personal reminders,” the report added.

In addition, this feature also serves as a built-in reminder system, which users can use to set event reminders. This ensures that all group participants receive notifications at the specified time so they do not miss important events or appointments.

It’s important to note that these message events are end-to-end encrypted, meaning that only the conversation participants can access them. Currently, this feature is limited only to groups that are a part of a WhatsApp Community.

Once an event is created, it will automatically be added to the group conversation. Group members will see a message prompting them to update their WhatsApp app to the most recent version to view and accept or reject the new group invite event.

Currently, the feature to create group chat events is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.
