WhatsApp, the popular Meta-owned instant messaging platform, is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to share videos up to 1 minute in length via their Status updates.

WhatsApp Users May Soon Share 1 Minute Video In Status Update

WABetaInfo, a known WhatsApp tipster publication, discovered the new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.7.6 update, which is available on the Google Play Store.

Previously, users could upload video statuses up to 30 seconds in length on their status updates, which WhatsApp has recently extended to a more user-friendly duration of up to 1 minute based on the response to user feedback.

Currently, this feature is available to a limited number of beta testers, allowing them to experiment with the feature by trying to upload videos exceeding the default 30-second duration to their status. In order to view longer videos shared via status updates, WhatsApp users will have to update to the latest version of the instant messaging platform.

“Over time, users have consistently requested the ability to share longer videos as their status updates. With the previous 30-second limit, users often found themselves constrained when trying to convey a comprehensive story or share longer snippets of their lives,” WABetaInfo states in its report.

“Now, with the one-minute duration, users have the freedom to share more extensive video content without the need for cumbersome edits or compromises on the message they want to convey.”

Currently, the feature to share videos of up to 1 minute in length via status updates is available to a limited group of beta testers who install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. This feature is expected to roll out to a broader audience over the coming weeks.
