With the upcoming Apple 16 series less than a year from its launch, there are rumors that the company plans to add a new dedicated button to this series for taking videos.
iPhone 16 is tipped to launch with a dedicated button for capturing videos
In his recent weekly Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that the Cupertino giant is planning to add a new button, the “Capture Button,” in the iPhone 16 series that will possess the functionality to capture video footage quickly.
Gurman further goes on to say that the lower-end iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models would feature the new Action Button, which debuted in iPhone 15 Pro models in September to replace the mute button.
The Capture Button on the iPhone 16 will be a capacitive button with haptic feedback technology, which means it will respond to responsive touch users without any physical button.
As per the leaked prototypes, the Capture button, which is placed on the right side of the phone, is expected to include a force sensor for varied functionalities based on the intensity of the press. For instance, a gentle press could launch the camera, and a firmer press may start video recording. Further, users may also be able to navigate between photo and video modes based on pressure levels.
Additionally, Apple plans to retain the iPhone 15’s design for next year’s iPhone 16 series while increasing screen sizes on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max versions, adds Gurman.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively, and the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to launch with 6.23-inch and 6.85-inch displays, respectively.
It is important to note that these are just leaks and rumors; hence, we need to take this information with a pinch of salt. Apple has yet to make any official announcements regarding the iPhone 16 series. So, it is advisable to wait until we hear it straight from the horse’s mouth.
