Apple is rumored to unveil its new iterations of the iPad Air and iPad Pro series on March 26, 2024, according to claims made by a Chinese technology publication, IT Home.
The publication cites several third-party protective cases for 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets, currently listed for sale on Amazon on March 26, 2024, as the reason for the launch date.
Apple’s iPad Air & iPad Pro Tipped To Launch On March 26
In addition, Analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants suggests in a new DSCC blog that the new 2024 Apple iPad Air and iPad Pro models could be launched in late March or early April and shipped to customers in April.
The launch date provided by the Chinese publication IT Home is in line with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s previous predictions that claimed Apple would release the new iPad Pro (2024) and iPad Air (2024) around the end of March.
However, in his latest ‘Power On‘ newsletter, Gurman said that the new iPads’ release will be pushed back until later next month, as the iPadOS 17.4 software designed for them is not yet complete.
“I’ve repeatedly said that new software for the iPad Pro — a variant of iPadOS 17.4 designed for the updated models — won’t be complete until the end of March or even sometime in April. Once the OS is finished, Apple needs to send it off to the factories to be installed on the new hardware. That process could last a couple weeks, probably taking us deeper into next month,” Gurman wrote in his latest Power On newsletter on Sunday.
According to Young, Apple plans to announce a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air, two new iPad Pro models, and an updated 10.9-inch iPad Air.
The two new iPad Pro models are expected to feature the 3nm Apple M3 chipset, OLED displays, a landscape-oriented front camera, a thinner build, a redesigned rear camera bump, a new Magic Keyboard accessory featuring an expanded trackpad, and perhaps support for MagSafe wireless charging.
On the other hand, the two new iPad Air models could feature the M2 chipset, a landscape-oriented front camera, and a 12.9-inch display for the first time. Rumors also suggest that Apple will launch a new Apple Pencil 3, compatible with the new 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro models.
